Lake
Shelbyville General Dacey Trail Volunteers
by: Ashley Florey
Trail volunteers once a month work to improve conditions on the General
Dacey Trail. Workdays have brought over fifty different individual
volunteers including local Boy Scout troops to the trail, accumulating
approximately 800 additional volunteer service hours each year. Work varies
each month, from removing debris, improving drainage, placing benches, to
performing ongoing trail maintenance.

After flooding in 2005 a lake-wide Volunteer Day helped get Lake
Shelbyville back on track for the 2005 recreation season. Over one hundred
volunteers contributed countless hours of valuable service, while several
volunteers donated equipments to help with the cleanup.
