Access to KY Lock’s Powerhouse Island Will  Be
Intermittently Closed By Construction Activities

Due to ongoing construction activities of the Kentucky Lock Addition Project, public access to Powerhouse Island will be closed intermittently for short periods of time over the next six months.

Under contract to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, American Bridge Company has recently commenced construction of a new roadway bridge down to the Powerhouse Island. This bridge has been designed to minimize impacts to the existing roadway onto the island, but some construction activities will result in a road closure to the public.

These closures are not expected to last more than a few days, but they can occur on short notice. When possible, these closures will be scheduled and posted here on the Kentucky Lock Addition project’s website.
