Friends of Shutes Branch

The Friends of Shutes Branch is a mountain biking interest group that has been responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Shute Branch Mountain Bike (MTB) Trail located in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Shutes Branch Campground off of Needmore Road, Mt. Juliet. Since 2008, the Friends of Shutes Branch has cut and maintained 7.2 miles of winding trail.  When finished, the trail is planned to be 8-9 miles long. Click here to view a trail map. To learn more about the Friends of Shutes Branch and when they have scheduled trail work days visit them online at: http://shutesbranchmtb.blogspot.com/.

Volunteers

Old Hickory Lake offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities in recreation and natural resource management. We are the stewards of nearly 28,000 acres of land and water held in the public trust...held for YOU. You can make a difference by helping to ensure the wise use of these precious resources today and their conservation for tomorrow.

Friends of Shutes

We need your help! As a volunteer you can:

Serve as Recreation Area Hosts
Participate in greenhouse work
Work on conservation and restoration projects
Conduct beach and trail maintenance
Enhance wildlife habitat
Carry out clean-up activities
Assist with special events

Leave a Legacy of Service

Anyone can volunteer at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities: Scout groups, civic organizations, local businesses, youth centers, school groups, retirees and more. All of these volunteers assist us in building and maintaining our recreational facilities as well as developing natural areas where animals and plants can thrive.

For more information about fun and rewarding opportunities as a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Volunteer call Old Hickory Lake at (615) 822-4846 or 847-2395.
